The words “Rustic” and “Glam” are two very different design aesthetics, but if you put them together you might just be pleasantly surprised.
In this Rustic Glam mood board we’ve created, you’ll notice that many of the “typical” rustic elements are missing – things like shiplap, vintage flea market finds, chicken wire, and heavy wood finishes. This is because we were inspired by our own city of Austin, Texas!
While we’ve got lots of love for all things Texas, and all things southern, these elements don’t always mesh with the interiors of our apartments, condos, and cookie-cutter houses. This rustic-glam design is for those of us who are wanting a piece of rustic living, without the ranch or the cattle to go with it.

First, we started with this Modern Cowhide Rug in Warm Brown because we are in Texas after all and it just so happens to do something amazing for the texture in the room.
Then, we added this Red Velvet Mia Sofa as the statement piece. We wanted to add just a little bit of color in this mostly neutral palette. Plus, both its velvet finish and wine-like color help add a little decadence to the look.
The Aurora Chair in Knoll Natural has a barrel-like frame that adds a little bit of southern charm, while its white boucle upholstery helps keep the look refined.
For the dining area, we selected this Live Edge Slab Dining Table 96″ Jacobean Stain. The trestle style legs keep the look on the rustic side while the gold finish definitely elevates the table. We love the sleek and shine of the dark, jacobean stain and the subtle live edge of the tabletop.
We paired the dining table with this glam and modern Hawkins Dining Chair in Charcoal Velvet. The silhouette alone is drool-worthy and the velvet helps tie the dining room and living room together with texture.
For the lighting, we selected this Cylinder Task Floor Lamp In Matte Black and Gold Brass. The black finish and modern shape pair well with everything and the brass shade add the glam.
For the dining room, we selected the Haley Chandelier. It has the vintage charm of a candelabra, but the modern bulbs keep it up-to-date.
